What is Margaret Weis Productions, Ltd.?
Margaret Weis Productions (MWP) is an award-winning publisher of tabletop roleplaying games. We are perhaps best known for our licensed games created from the worlds of Dragonlance, Serenity, Supernatural, Battlestar Galactica, Leverage, Smallville and Marvel RPGs. Based in Wisconsin, MWP has been bringing games to fans since 2005.

What’s a Roleplaying Game (RPG)?
RPGs are a form of collaborative storytelling that use rules and often dice or cards to create an ongoing narrative. One player presents the world and its many elements, usually kicking off a story by setting the stage, while the others create characters and make decisions for those characters as the story unfolds. Dice or cards are used to resolve conflicts between characters or when the outcome is uncertain. Our games are presented in the form of colorful and entertaining rulebooks packed with information and examples, but the real gaming happens when the players get around the table and use the rules to tell the story!

So you don’t make computer games?
That’s right. Our games are often called pen-and-paper RPGs to distinguish them from computer-based RPGs (or CRPGs) or online Massive Multiplayer RPGs, but the nature of the rules means you can even play the game as a group online via Skype, instant messaging, or chat. Traditionally, though, you get around a table with some snacks, dice, and your friends. It’s fun!  

Are RPGs addictive?
We sure love our RPGs, but no, there’s nothing more addictive or harmful in playing games like Leverage or Smallville than in taking part in community theater or a rousing game of Charades. Of course, if you’re having a great time, you might want to schedule the next session and keep the story going!

Even if I don’t want to play a game, will I like this book?
Absolutely! While we are definitely a roleplaying game publisher, we have a great deal of respect and love for the licenses we make games for and the vision of their creators. We know the fans are passionate about their favorite books, TV shows and movies, and we want to honor that by packing our books with cool background facts, character writeups, maps, full-color art and photos, and even episode guides. Whether you want to play the part of Clark Kent or Dean Winchester or just get a kick out of reading about them, our RPG books are an excellent addition to your fan collection.

Where can I find your products?
As well as ordering through our online store, you can pick up copies of our games from your local hobby, game or bookstore or from online vendors such as Amazon.com. We are proud to be distributed by Diamond Book Distriburtors in the trade, and all primary distributors including ACD, Aladdin, Alliance Game Distributors, Southern Hobby and WarPath to hobby... so if your local store doesn’t carry our products, just ask!

Margaret Weis is the New York Times Bestselling author of the Dragonlance Chronicles and Dragonlance Legends as well as many other award-winning and notable series, most recently Dragon Brigade with Robert Krammes. A tireless supporter of fandom and gamers, her vision for her company is to bring high-quality games to both long-time gamers and newcomers alike.
