But I just really love these guys. I'll be sorely disappointed if they don't get any love.

I like the idea of a book of mini-events.

It would be a great way to add obscure characters or teams that don't usually make it into the big events. You could probably include five or so in a single collection, giving a decent number of heroes/villains to play with.

Each of these mini events could be capped with a "Where to go from here" section listing possible jumping off points and maybe even connecting them to larger events.

Just a thought.

Great idea, with a great justification. I'd pay blood to have a mini-event based on the Next Avengers animated movie.
"Heroes get shot, stabbed, burned, bludgeoned, poisoned, infected, disintegrated, irradiated, electrocuted, exposed to vacuum and fall from great heights. Being a hero is a tough job."

The Next Avengers actually showed up in the first storyarc of the new Avengers book recently. So they certainly could get datafiles at some point.

Great idea for mini-event books! They could be aligned with a lot of source-book material for the MU. There is just such a history available. A SHIELD sourcebook could have a ton of the SHIELD related events (Nick Fury vs. SHIELD, etc...) as well as lay out the milestones, history, available for players aligned with the group.

I'd like to see a book with a bunch of solos for street-level heroes like Punisher, Moon Knight, Daredevil, etc. We all know how tough it can be for everyone to get together on a designated night. This would be a good "Plan B" that I think would see lots of use.

"Hey Alex, Mike and Gary can't make it tonight. Who would you like to play in Streets of Poison? Daredevil, Black Panther, Moon Knight, Cap, or the Punisher"?

"Oh, you don't want to play Streets of Poison? Ok, same character choices, but how about we play The Bottom"?

Yeah, we'd play the hell outta that.

Actually, that could work well on a theme level too.

Just like MHR has shown its roots to be firmly planted in the old TSR Marvel Superheroes game, TSR also had a One-on-One Adventure Gamebook series where one player took on the role of the villain(s) and one took on the role of the hero(es).

In the same vein, MWP could release supplements with this style of play in mind. One Watcher and one player events. Again, these could be mini-events intended for a single day/evening of play. They could even list jumping off points for continuing the story into original campaign territory.

I believe on the MU side, that's sometimes also called 'First Class', at least if it's X-related.

Cam wrote:Mini-Events like Breakout are often much better structures for some crossovers or classic stories. You can compress the action down a lot, there's no concern about supplements, and they can handle smaller casts of heroes.

Cheers,
Cam

Some mini-events, then, either alone as slim books or packaged in books of three to four of them with connected themes.

I actually can't guess why Marvel has BOTH X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Season One lines except, "Because money."

Isn't that always a good guess?

Well, there's also editorial churn.

I like that Cam mentioned Shadowlands, as I know my players would love that. The current Avengers vs X-Men would make a great one as well, I think.

I'd also like to second the suggestion of something Ultron-centric. He's my favorite villain and has a far reach. Kang is another one with great adventure potential.
