50 States, and the X-Men / Runaways.

50 States, and the X-Men / Runaways.

Postby Venture-Stein » Thu Jul 05, 2012 6:09 pm

How possible will it be to start Civil War with a group mix of Avengers and Fantastic Four guys and play them thru the main book and the supplements? Is each book set up to be its own start and end, or do they flow together to tell one story? Is it assumed you will play a new character each book? I ask because we are running a campaign and myself and my players don't really enjoy playing new guys every few games, but will it make since for Captain America and Nick Fury to show up in a Runaways storyline? Any clarification would be appreciated.

Runaways is going to deal with teen heroes mostly, so anything in there might be hard to apply to the actual avengers (though it's possible it will be adaptable). X-men will likely deal with Mutant specific issues during these time periods (threats like Magneto have required the Avengers before though, so it might be compatible. Alternatively, if your team has any mutants, they might bring in their team mates).

I'm curious about this too, should I wait to start Civil War until all the supplement books are out so I can run mutant, teen, and the main book together?

You could always play the event multiple times from different viewpoints.

Civil War gives you what all of the main issues were dealing with.

Civil War X-Men could deal with their own side stories which weren't really tied to the main Civil War event.

I'm sure the 50 State Initiative and the Kids books could be handled the same way. For instance, I don't really remember the 50 State Initiative being up and running until either the very end of Civil War or as an aftermath thing.

It's safe to say, that the YA/Runways supplement may be the biggest reason why I bought into MHRP as I'm a huuuuge fan of both these teams. Its definitely the MHRP product I've been waiting for.

50-State Initiative includes chapters on the Thunderbolts, Heroes for Hire, and the Initiative. It offers options for play after the end of the Civil War (i.e. after Act Three) but also options for bringing in more story lines during Act Two and Three. It's kind of like the "we're on the side of the SHRA" book.

Young Avengers & Runaways has chapters on the Young Avengers, the Runaways, the New Warriors (pre and post-Stamford), plus a mini-event based on the CW: Young Avengers & Runaways story, featuring Marvel Boy/Noh-Varr. Scenes and story lines are intended for Act One and Act Two, mostly.

X-Men has chapters devoted to the X-Men and to X-Factor Investigations, as well as the Office of National Emergency (O*N*E), the piloted Sentinels, the 198, and more. Most mutants around following M-Day are covered, though depowered mutants are likely not in the book. Scenes and story lines in this book cover the duration of the Civil War, as a parallel series of events or hooks.

Are Nextwave still in 50 States? In the prospective hero datafile list they were in there...

Can we get a full list of hero datafiles from the Young Avengers/Runaways book? And if not, can we at least hear if Amadeus Cho gets the full player character treatment (with or without pup in tow)?
