I imagine that Tenebrous would be a very tough opponent.

I'll admit to a (somewhat irrational) fear about how the Silver Surfer in particular, and some others like him, will be handled. There is no character at Marvel who suffers more from a lack of understanding on most writers' part, even at Marvel, and leads to inconsistencies and underselling that just shouldn't happen. Especially post-Annihilation, where Norrin got a tremendous upgrade, enough that someone of his already insane classic power level looks weak in comparison.

At this point, I have nothing to do but trust that things will be done right (as I, the fan, see them), and MWP had certainly earned that trust. And like I said, it may be at least somewhat irrational, but there it is.

I'm looking forward to this book more than just about any other RPG book I've ever wanted!

I agree with this. See the current Defenders arc to see an otherwise good writer completely misusing him.

I'm actually pretty happy with Matt Fraction's use of all the characters in Defenders.

One of the important things to realize about characters is that they should not remain the same between story arcs. Sometimes, the version you see might not behave in the same way as he did in another story, but the essence of the character is very often still there. The Surfer in Defenders has always been a strange, aloof, occasionally light-hearted yet then deadly serious figure. In his own title, he's really not that at all, since he's the protagonist.

Our talented team of Advanced Idea Mechanics will do everything they can to capture the version of Silver Surfer who appeared during the Annihilation storyline. Your version may vary!

Cheers,
Cam

I guess the best example of this would be Batman in his own title and the Justice League Batman.

But this would be determined, in game, by how the character is played, not designed. For the most part, I haven't been able to complain about how characters have been designed.

Bat's affiliations would be different between the two, as would his distinctions, in my eyes. The same could be said of most characters. The dynamic of the setting influences the dynamic of the character. Much would be how they're played, but design would also affect it.

I agree. Someone said here on another thread that Batman's team should be d10 and his solo d6 to represent how his is portrayed in JLA and his own comics.

Cam was speaking of how a character behaves which is why I responded in terms of role-playing.

Any ETA info yet? I just scanned the whole thread and missed any reference to one.

I doubt there's any ETA as of yet. As the Civil War event book isn't even out in book form yet. And there's the 3 supplements for Civil War that need to likewise be released first.
