Discussion - MU1 (TSR) Datafiles

Postby MidnightBlue » Thu May 03, 2012 7:02 pm

I've started to convert all of the MU1 - Marvel Super Heroes: Gamer's Handbook of the Marvel Universe (TSR) characters in this thread:

http://www.margaretweis.com/mwp_forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=274

If you have any feedback, praise, death threats, questions on why I made the choices that I did, please feel free to post them in this discussion thread.

I'd love to hear from any of you.

I hope these datafiles will be useful at least to get your own creative juices flowing, even if you don't particularly care for my versions of the characters. At least it will give you something to chew on while we wait for official versions of the characters.

:)

Now that's a Herculean task!

I had those manuals once upon a time. I used to love reading through them as a kid and encountering all these bizarre characters that I had never heard of. Most of them probably showed up once in the 70's and that was it.

Yeah...I feel fairly confident that many of my creations here might end up being the ONLY versions that ever get made.

Take the Aquarian for example.

Probably won't have a whole lot of fans clamoring for that one.

But if they are...you need look no further!

Color me impressed! I remember those book like it was yesterday with their ready to be put in a 3 ring binder format. Creating adventures back then (for TSR Marvel) consisted of picking a random baddie and beginning play. So simple!

Heh...don't be too impressed yet. Getting through all eight of these handbooks is going to take me a couple of months...at least!

Of course if Civil War comes out before I get too far along, that might cut my work down tremendously as I cross those datafiles off my to-do list!

I like it. I really need to go find where I put my copy of those books. And months is probably an understatement.

I have a similar project started for Leverage. Stargate SG-1 Main characters done. Support characters in progress. Stargate Atlantis only notes. X-Files Mains done to Season 5. Support characters in progress.

And it has already been a few months. Then again, I am also watching all the episodes too.

I felt like a 13-year old all over again.

We do have a huge number of very obscure characters lined up in among the more popular or mainstream ones. I'm personally writing up Howard the Duck for 50 State Initiative (Civil War Event Supplement) and NextWave are all included in that book as hero datafiles. And as for Watcher characters... well, take a look at Breakout's list of Raft inmates.

I of course can't really look at any Marvel-based datafiles of characters we may or may not be publishing later, because we may or may not publisher them later. Your version of an already published character wouldn't be an issue.

Cheers,

It will be down in the Leverage forum here. When I get around to it.

X-File however is fairly easy. Only two Mains. Muldur and Scully. Two Foils. CMS and Krycek. And a hand full of Support. The LGM, Skinner, The Syndicate.

I didn't do any of the Monster of the Week characters because they didn't have a lasting impact on the mythology of the show.

If you have a request, I could look into it.

Err ... sorry for the thread-jack. :?
