Time to celebrate Free Comic Day with the one and only Man of Tomorrow himself. This works as a scaled down "New 52" Supes or even a Marvel equivalent classic Supes. It's a fun build with particularly geekworthy milestones. Thought after my Aquaman and Cyborg builds, you guys could use a big leaguer like Clark.

Superman

Affiliation: Solo d10, Buddy d6, Team d8

Distinctions: Big Blue Boy Scout, the Man of Steel, Mild Mannered Reporter

Kryptonian Physiology: Energy Effect d10, Godlike Durability d12, Godlike Strength d12, Leaping d10, Superhuman Senses d10, Superhuman Speed d10, Superhuman Stamina d10, Supersonic Flight d10
• SFX: Cold Breath/Heat Vision. Step up or double an Energy Effect die against a single target. Remove the highest rolling die and add 3 dice for your total.
• SFX: Invulnerable. Spend 1 PP to ignore physical stress or physical trauma unless caused by magic.
• SFX: Powers Beyond Mortal Men. Use two or more Kryptonian Physiology powers in a single dice pool at -1 step for each additional power.
• SFX: Unleashed. Step up or double any Kryptonian physiology power for one action. If the action fails, add a die to doom pool equal to the normal rating of your power die.
• Limit: Adopted Home. Earn 1 PP to step up emotional stress inflicted by attacks against innocent bystanders by +1.
• Limit: Yellow Sunlight Dependent. On a Kryptonite based attack, or while deprived of yellow sunlight, change any Kryptonian Physiology power into a complication and gain 1 PP. Activate an opportunity or remove the complication to recover the power.

Specialties: Combat Expert d8, Psych Expert d8

Milestones:
Last Son of Krypton: 1XP (when you must hide your Kryptonian Heritage from Earth men or when you first encounter some remnant of your doomed home world, Krypton), 3XP (when your powers demonstrate superiority over some Earth norm; e.g. Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound…), 10XP (when you give up your home on Earth to live amongst your kind or when you successfully preserve some remnant of Krypton from annihilation and allow it refuge to flourish)
Peace on Earth: 1XP (when you first are affected by your Adopted Home limit), 3XP (when you first use your psyche specialty to help someone recover emotional stress), 10XP (when you are forced to sacrifice yourself in order to save the Earth or when you abandon mankind and your quest for peace)

I like the build but I have yet to play in a game. Hoping to do so in June or, at least, at GenCon.

Anyway, with my lack of knowledge of the game, wouldn't this

well that's why there are limitations on the frequencies of xp awards. no more than once per scene for your 3XP mark. This wouldn't just be "I punch the bad guy harder than a locomotive" either. This would be "There is a runaway locomotive and I show that I'm more powerful than it by leaping onto the tracks and stopping it with my bare hands".

The first trigger also wouldn't just be role played as "I run to the broom closet to change into superman", it would have to be role played well; make the whole table laugh for example. "I see Lois fall out of the window during the company mixer, spit my punch out, and tell the room that I've forgotten my record collection of classic disco tunes. Nobody cares about Clark's taste in music, so they don't notice me go into the women's restroom. If any women go in there, they won't care when Superman comes out". I might even have them roll against the doom pool.

I really like it! I think it covers Clark very well.

thanks! It might take a while, but I'll get to testing Supes out sometime. So far I think Zzzax is the best villain to go toe to toe with the big red S.

The only changes I would make would be to add Space Flight and some kind of fast healing. In Action Comics Superman has been making trips into space (see latest issue, 7 or 8 I think. In the lastest issue of Teen Titans, someone comments on how fast Superboy heals from two broken arms because of his Krytonian heritage.

"swift interplanetary travel" is the important detail that keeps me from giving him d12 flight. Style-wise you want Superman to prefer to rely on his durability rather than his speed in the air when defending himself. As far as the healing factor goes? I was actually going to add a yellow sun dependant regen effect. It's more of a traditional fast heal for Supes. It's the classic "bathes in the yellow sun's rays and comes back for round 2" that we see so much.

Have you thought about putting your DC characters together on a pdf? Also have you thought about statting Green Arrow, Steve Trevor, Darkseid and his minions? Keep up the great work.

oh yeah. for sure. Darkseid will end up under Superman's profile along with parademons and Ollie will be along later... maybe under a misc. JLA file along with guys like Hawkman, Atom, Black Canary, Martian Manhunter, and others.

I'm not good with PDFs though. I wouldn't mind if someone took these and made something professionalish looking.
