ah okay. book on hand. finally realize how triggers work. I didn't have to spend a PP for his heat vision nor did I need to spend a doom die for the mighty charge. hmm... game just got a whole lot funner...

round 2 coming soon.

Let's Play... Superman! Part 2

Postby BaronVonStevie » Wed Jun 13, 2012 2:43 am

Superman: Okay, innocent lives are at stake. No messing around here. I reach back and let Bulldozer have it as the smoke clears… unleashed! (Unleashed SFX: solo d10, d8 man of steel, 2d12 strength, d8 combat; +1PP to add a d6 to the doom pool from opportunity, result 15/d8 effect).

Watcher: Bulldozer might be able to take this well enough. Let’s see… (Invulnerable SFX; d6 from doom pool, add d12 from unleashed). KLANG!! Bulldozer stumbles into a taxi and crushes it. “Not your lucky day, Superman…” Up from above comes Piledriver with a crushing pair of fists (buddy d8, d8 huge hands, d10 strength, d8 combat, d8 stress; 13 result/d10 effect).

Superman: Two on one… must… hold out… (d10 solo, d8 man of steel, d12 durability, 2d6 combat; 9 result/d8 effect). Not good. I just got flattened.

Watcher: WHAMMO!! Superman is driven into the street as a cloud of smoke flies into the air. You take d10 physical stress. Bulldozer goes to build the doom pool with some mayhem and destruction. (mighty charge SFX: d8 buddy, d8 hard headed, d8 strength, d6 hard headed, d6 menace, d10 physical stress; effect die steps up +1, 14 result/d8 effect). Bulldozer grabs an 18 wheeler and whips it around about to throw it high into the air. It’s gotta land somewhere…

Superman: Metropolis is being torn apart! I have to put a stop to this as soon as I can. (powers beyond mortal men SFX: d10 solo, d8 here to help, d10 speed, d10 strength, d8 psyche; 2PP to add a third result die + turn the failure against Bulldozer, result 18/d10 effect). I run around Bulldozer at super speeds to throw him off balance and take the truck away from him, then I dump it on top of him. That ought to hold him.

Watcher: It’s carnage! Okay, Bulldozer is flattened. He takes d10 physical stress. Your turn, Superman.

Superman: Piledriver needs to be taken care of. I turn a lamp post into a pretzel and try to tie him up. Trying to cause a complication (unleashed SFX: d10 solo, d8 here to help, 2d12 strength, d8 combat; result 14/d12 effect).

Watcher: Wow! Piledriver tries to get out of this (d8 buddy, d8 huge hands, d10 strength, d8 combat; a bunch of 1’s rolled, result 5/d4 effect). After a few panels, you have him completely hog tied. Bulldozer finally plows his way out. He goes after a mighty charge (mighty charge SFX: d4 solo, d4 hard headed, d8 strength, d6 charge, d8 combat, d10 physical stress; +1d6 doom pool, effect steps up +1, result 12/effect d12). He comes at you with all the finesse of a freight train.

Superman: I get up after hog tying Piledriver with a satisfied nod just in time to see him coming… (d10 solo, d8 man of steel, d12 durability, 2d6 combat; result 11/d12 effect). Ouch! Again with the mighty charge…

Watcher: You go flying again. This time you go skipping along the hoods of abandoned cars in the middle of the street. One of the cars goes up in flames next to you. Rolling the doom pool (2d6, d12; result 8/effect d12)

Superman: I cover my eyes and wince away from it as it goes up (powers beyond mortal men SFX: d10 solo, d4 big blue boy scout, d12 durability, d8 stamina; +1 PP negative distinction, +1 PP opportunity to add d6 to doom pool, result 14/d12 effect) . My turn?

Watcher: Your turn.

Superman: I guess I’ll just have to roll up my super sleeves and duke it out with this creep. I lunge in (powers beyond mortal men SFX: d10 solo, d4 man of steel, d12 strength, d8 flight, d8 combat, d10 stress; +1 PP from negative distinction, result 15/d10 effect).

Watcher: d6 from the doom pool to use invulnerability. You belt him at super speeds, but he keeps it together. He goes after you with a mighty charge and…

Superman: I’m just going to use invulnerability again.

Watcher: Ha! (Superman spends 1PP to ignore). Your turn. You want to just slug it out for a few rounds? Metropolis is going to look like the surface of the moon when this is over.

Superman: Sure. What is that 3 rounds straight of us trading invulnerability off?
Watcher: Yup. Taking a negative distinction on your next two rolls? I’m just adding d6 every time (+1d8 to the doom pool). It’s your turn too.

Superman: Okay... (adds +2 PP). I blow away the smoke and probably some debris with a gust of freeze breath (cold breath SFX: d10 solo, d8 man of steel, d10 energy effect, d6 science, d10 stress; keep 3 result dice, result 26/d10 effect). Yikes!

Watcher: Bulldozer just walked into a blizzard! (d4 solo, d8 ex army, d10 strength, d8 combat, d10 stress; 12 result/d10 effect). He’s frozen! Metropolis… what’s left of it… is saved. Lois and Jimmy come running up to make sure you’re okay.

Superman: I’m already gone before they find me in the wreckage. Just then I come running up as Clark Kent with my camera in hand, stammering, and pushing my glasses up. “Gosh Lois, did I miss anything? Where’s Superman?”

Watcher: She looks distraught as she scans the carnage for signs of Metropolis’ hero. “I don’t know, Smallville. I hope he made it out of this in one piece.”

Doom Pool: 1d8, d12
Bulldozer: d10 physical stress, stressed out (FROZEN STIFF complication)
Piledriver: stressed out (HOG TIED WITH A LAMP POST complication)
Superman: +1XP, 2PP, d10 physical stress

heed a slight mod to Superman. He now has a limit...

• Limit: Adopted Home. Earn 1 PP to step up emotional stress inflicted by attacks against innocent bystanders by +1.
