Guardsmen Armor and Mandroid

Guardsmen Armor and Mandroid

Postby jdford1177 » Sun May 06, 2012 9:07 am

I'm currently running a Hydra campaign and needed some grunts for the heroes to fight. I decided that Hydra had appropriated the Guardsmen and Mandroid armors. Here are what I created:

Guardsman

Affiliations
Solo d4
Buddy d6
Team d8

Distinctions
Hail Hydra! (specific to this setting, but can be changed of course)
I'm Better Than Iron Man

Powered Armor
Strength d10
Repulsors d8
Durability d8
Flight d8

SFX. Area Attack - add d6 to pool for each additional target and keep additional effect die.
Limit. Power Surge - shut down highest rated power to gain one doom die or step up existing doom die; activate player opportunity to recover.

Specialities
Vehicle Expert d8
Combat Expert d8

Mandroid

Affiliations
Solo d4
Buddy d8
Team d6

Distinctions
Hail Hydra (campaign specific)
Piloted

Powered Armor
Physical Resistance d8
Energy Resistance d8
Cybernetic Senses d6
Superhuman Strength d10
Superhuman Durability d10
Repulsors d10

SFX. Area Attack - add d6 to pool for each additional target and keep additional effect die.
SFX. Multipower - spend doom die use two powers from the Powered Armor powerset.
SFX. Unibeam - step up or double repulsors then shut down repulsors. Activate player opportunity to recover.
Limit. Pilotless - armors running when stressed out, but lose distinctions and specialties from dice pool.

Specialties
Vehicle Expert d8
Tech Expert d8

Very interesting.

It's been a while since I looked over the stats from the TSR handbooks, but your datafiles seem like they've hit the main points of the characters.

Very cool!

They seem to be more powerful than I would have thought. I thought the Mandroids were basically souped up minions and I know the Guardsman (somebody O'Brien if I remember) was a specialty character, but the other Guardsmen were mooks.

On the otherhand...they are meant to hold superhumans in check, or cause mass chaos.

Oh they were definitely the equivalent of power-armor red shirts in the comics, but at least the guardsman armor was supposed to be state-of-the-art Stark-tech.
