History
Greg “Brass” Gardner started boxing at an early age. Following in the footsteps of his hometown hero “Battlin’ Jack Murdock”. With the help of Murdock’s Trainer, he rose quickly though the amateur circuit and found himself a professional boxer looking for a fight. His first official fight was slated against veteran boxer “Iron’ Ron Tanner. Before the fight, members of ‘Iron’s management met with Greg about the fight and the importance of Tanner’s winning the match; offering substantial monetary gains if he were to take a dive in the fourth round.
Gardner declined. Unbeknownst to Gardner, Tanner was backed by Wilson Fisk and as the fight drew closer threats were made on himself and his loved ones.
In the third round Gardner won the fight by TKO. The Whirlwind that followed was more than Greg could take: With his girlfriend dead and Greg in the ER after a shot through the heart, his whole life fell apart. After recovering Greg took up the mantle of the Brass. Armed with a set of brass knuckles passed down from his grandfather he patrols the streets of New York waiting for the day he can repay Wilson Fisk for every horrible act he has committed.
Personality
After the loss of his girlfriend Greg turned away from the man he once was. No long the happy-go-lucky boxer from Hell Kitchen, he prefers to live in solitude. He actively avoids any sort of relationships and tries to keep his interaction with people to a minimum so they don’t have to suffer for his decisions. He feels the road he as chosen must be taken alone. This mentality makes him come off as distant.
Greg tries to stay calm and rock solid despite his losses. He never lets his anger get in the way of his goals.
Despite his methods at the end of the day Greg is a hero and will try to do what he feels is right--often at the expense of NYPD.
In recent events the Brass has teamed up with Shock Mantis to fight crime. Due to his newly found friendship with Shock Mantis occasionally a small glimpse of the man Greg use to be surfaces if only for a moment.
Abilities & Resources
Greg conditioning and unorthodox use of dirty boxing are his key tools against criminals. The brass knuckles he carries only magnify the effect of his years of training. He also wears a bulletproof vest he stole from a NYPD officer with his insignia sprayed on it to increase his chances in a fight. These along with a simple mask and mouth guard make up the Brass’ crime fighting attire.
Outside of his crime fighting gear, Greg has little to his name. Constantly bouncing from odd job to job he lives in a constant state of poverty.
