Invoking a limit on powerset with conscious activation

Invoking a limit on powerset with conscious activation

Postby siebharinn » Tue Jul 31, 2012 9:39 pm

Invisible Woman's Force Projection powerset has a conscious activation limit, which is invoked when she is stressed out, asleep or unconscious. Can the watcher trigger that limit with a doom die or for a PP?

Not really, not unless she's knocked out, asleep, or unconscious. It's one of the Limits that more or less triggers on a narrative situation (usually prompted by being stressed out, but not always).

Cheers,

If I'm playing the Invisible Woman and we have a transition scene where we're traveling through the negative zone for ten hours, can I activate my limit to fall asleep and gain a plot point?
:)

Nope. Concious activation doesn't grant a PP, it just shuts down the power set.

Page OM13 says that if you activate your limit, you get a plot point.

But conscious activation doesn't give you a PP. If all limits gave you a PP, then wouldn't Iron Man get 2PP for each power shut down? One for OM13 and one for the limit's description? Most limits give you PPs, but not all. Just like some SFX are free, but others cost PPs/add to the doom pool/etc.

The smiley tells me y already know the answer, which is: Not on my Watch.

If the Scene of the 9-hour journey is hand-waved, then taking a nap doesn't actually limit you in any way. But you knew that.
