Unleashed & Multi-Power

Unleashed & Multi-Power

Postby Battlechimp » Tue May 15, 2012 11:13 am

If you have Unleashed and use the power in a multi-power does it step down both the dice that were doubled or just one of them?

Example: The Human Torch can double all his flame powers for the scene when using Nova Flame. If he then uses 2 of them with multi-power does he have 2d10+2d8 or is it 4d8 and for 3 would it be 3d10+3d6 or 6d6?

I was thinking about this the other day, except I believe it was Unleashed and Versatile...

I think the answer in your example is 4d8/6d6, since (I believe) stepping back a doubled power trait will step back BOTH dice.

Versatile specifically says that each die is considered a separate power when stepping up/down (OM91).

Multipower steps down all of your power trait dice, so I assume it would work on both "doubled" dice. So for the Human Torch example, I believe the answer is 4d8 or 6d6.

If only Unleashed said the same thing . . .

Specifically I was thinking of Graviton using Unleashed to double his Gravity Supremacy and then use Versatile to double it again. I think this would result in 3d10, but if Unleashed counts each die as a separate trait like Versatile, you'd get an excellent 1d12+2d10!

If you did things the other way around, you'd get 3d10 or 1d10 and 1d12 depending on what you decided to do with Unleashed. However, if you took the second option, you're an idiot, since you could have just rolled 2d12 by using Unleashed alone.

The point is, Graviton's datafile is pretty damn tough and Unleashed and Versatile together is pretty hardcore.

In the Graviton example, I'm pretty sure the outcome of Unleashed + Versatile is:

D12 + D12 (Unleashed double)
D12 + 2D10 (Versatile step down and double)

Although if you go in the opposite direct (versatile then unleashed) you end up with D10+D12 or 3D10 like you said. So I dunno.

Yeah. I keep going back and forth, but I think 1d12+2d10 is right. You're stepping back and doubling the original die for that power, the extra die from Unleashed is just an extra die in your pool.

It's the same reason why doubling a trait twice gets you 3 dice, not 4.
