Breakout at RolePlay onLine

I'm kind of confused by the initiative/action/post order currently. I think for MHR, it might work better (but slow things down a lot) in a PBP game to always use MHR's initiative system even out of combat.

I made a post in the OOC forum about how we can track actions on the board. It might be too complex, I dunno.

I take full responsibility for the confusion. I was trying to have some free-form stuff going on, and then the action starts over here but not over there... Plus some folks don't post that much so I don't want things to screech to a halt waiting on them. But maybe you're right.

I actually like the freeform, but the problem is that MHR doesn't work that way. We could discard the initiative system -- which DOES pretty much require that things screech to a halt while waiting on whoever's turn it is -- but there's further problems involving the resolution of effect dice as I said in an additional comment on the thread.

(Which I am assuming you know about, but I am mentioning it here in case anyone who is reading this wants to chime in about how to do MHR-style turn-taking in a pbp environment.)

Just my opinions here...but I'll eagerly follow whatever Spatula decides on.

I don't think we should scrap the initiative system, but I do think that it is okay to relax it every now and again...like we were doing before we all got to the scene. But once the Watcher calls "INITIATIVE!" then we run the usual...post and state the next to act.

But if we aren't in combat and are only acting against the Doom Pool for anything we wish to roll, then I don't see a problem with skipping Action Order.

PBP is just going to be slow. It is its nature and it doesn't matter what game system you use. I've played/ran PBP games under seven different game systems now and they are all slow.

The key (in my eyes) is to get used to a procedure and be as clear as possible in our posts. I'm trying to post what my action is, the result I'm hoping for, who/what I'm acting against and who goes next.

It's going to take some time to get used to all of this. This is a brand new system for all/most of us.

But I think things are starting off well and I'm having a good time.

Normally, I hate playing "pre-gen" characters and prefer original characters. But right now I'm enjoying the hell out of playing my favorite Marvel superhero. Go Spidey!

I'm Spider-man and I just made a web-parachute for the crashing helicopter. How cool is that???

[What Spidey doesn't know is that Wonder Woman was already holding up the helicopter from the inside...keeping it from falling. Still...it was a cool narrative to type out.]

I'd be interested in your MK datafile.

Is there anyway to access the PBP thread?

And yeah, crashing into a helicopter with a web parachute is pretty dang cool!!! :D

Moon Knight's is I think the one taken from The Lost Files site, only replacing the copycat weapon set (Cap's shield, Spidey's shooters, Wolverine's claws) with that Hawkeye power set Cam told us about. And if I had to do it all over again, I would downgrade Moon Knight's weaponry to D6s, but oh well.

Eh...he just ate his "Moon God Wheaties" and his dice pool is reflecting that.
