I guess I'll get to watch it tomorrow, since I don't have an antenna and watch it online.

Man, that was a bad-ass episode. So pumped for next week.

I managed to get most of the way done with my version of the Lead sheet for Oliver Queen. I'll post a link here to my Arrow Smallville wiki section.

So, what did you think of episode 3? I was really excited about the discovery at the end of it. I suspected that was going to happen while I was watching episode 2.

I haven't done any updates to the Lead sheets, yet. Laurel, especially, needs to be updated as she's more of a bad-ass in this episode.

It was a strong episode. It's great to see DC characters added in a way that isn't "oh and he has this amazing super power." I also think there are a lot of Easter Eggs in these episodes, hints to folks who've been fans of Ollie for years. We all know Green Arrow's had Merlyn as a rival and enemy before, we know Laurel Lance is Black Canary's alter ego, and so forth. But the way it's introduced in the show, we honestly can't be sure any of that's more than just clever use of existing names, or if it's ripe potential for the future, etc.

I have been waiting for the reveal to Diggle about Ollie's activity, though. Good that it waited until the end of episode 3 and not right there in the pilot.

Cheers,

That was a good episode. It was nice to see Ollie with a real opponent instead of just picking off the guards one by one. I suppose the Triad lady got away last episode, though. And it is good to see Digg in on the plan. The "oh, I ditched my bodyguard to save the city again" plot device would get old really fast.

I can't wait to see how Diggle ends up helping Ollie. Because I'm sure he's going to!

I thought the kill shot was done very well. I certainly liked being in suspense with Oliver himself until it was revealed.

Is Green Arrow this lethal in the comics? I kind of feel like the body count is a bit high and ought to be renamed, "Punish" with a few character name rewrites.

In the comics, Ollie doesn't typically kill (a lot of his trick arrows are intended to provide him with other options), but he understands how dangerous his arrows can be and what they can do to a human body, and he has killed more frequently than most superheroes in the past.

I've only been reading the new 52, but he's killed some people. It does seem to me that the show is more lethal.

I linked to an interview a bit back that suggests they really want to bring this closer to reality and show the consequences of violence. I think that's the way they worded it...

I haven't had the opportunity to see the show myself yet...I will...I will.

But it sounds to me like they are taking Ollie more "Longbow Hunters" where he got rid of the Robin Hood hat and trick arrows and went straight pointy-arrows on the bad guys. I never read a lot of Green Arrow, but I recall that that period was a darker, more "realistic" take on the character.

Of course back in those days EVERYTHING was all about the dark anti-heroes...so probably just DC trying to compete in the market with Punisher and Wolverine.

Anyway...that sounds like where this character is coming from. Less swashbuckling trick arrows and more vigilante violence.

Nothing wrong with that...just putting my two cents on the questions regarding this version of GA.

You all really have me looking forward to checking out the show.
