Breakout at a Convention?

Breakout at a Convention?

Postby MadcapCH » Tue Jul 31, 2012 4:08 pm

I plan on running MHRP at a convention (Nuke-Con in Omaha NE). My basic question is can I run Breakout at this convention, probably in two 4-hour sessions? I have read all the threads I could find on the forum about convention play. I plan on using cheat sheets, keeping the initial rules explanation to a minimum, and only having 4-5 players. I have a decent grasp on the rules. I was able to convert the TSR Marvel module "The Breeder Bombs" for MHRP, and with new players it went around 6 hours for the whole thing. I am thinking I can do this.

Any thoughts?

The thing about BreakOut (and any event really) is they aren't a linear check list to go through. They're options.

At PAXEast, last year, I was running Break Out Act II. Its a bit easier to manage than Act I and was new to the rules. I ran Act II alone in about 2-3 hours while teaching the rules, I just didn't use every scene (most though).

I've since run Act I three times and I'll be brining it to GenCon. Once your comfortable you could absolutely run both acts in 2 four hour sessions. Let the group help direct which scenes you use when.
