what would you like to see added to the game?

What would I like to see? Villains, villains, and more villains!!! It's my only complaint with the game at this point. Need more of the big name bad guys,it's a nice selection I guess in breakout, but hoping for more big names soon!

The villains included were appropriately thematic for the mini-event. Most any other mini-event that could have been included would have probably had much fewer villains.

I actually kind of like that we got some relatively obscure villains at first.

Especially since...CIVIL WAR...is just around the bend. We should get quite a few hero/villain datafiles in that beast of a book.

Would I buy this if it came out? Of course I would!

That said, I don't really see a huge need for this kind of book.

Each Event book will have tips and setting info for running games in the Marvel U at the time of that event. So you grab Civil War and you'll be good to go.

On top of that, there are a TON of Wiki and Marvel website options out there that can make your life easier.

If that's not enough...try finding some of the sourcebooks for the other Marvel RPG's. You might be able to find some of them used/cheap. I know the Marvel Saga edition had an Atlas book.

Just some ideas that might help get your creative juices flowing.

For everyone who was asking about making a d6 specialty, I think the reason why one does not already exist is because of the resources you can call on with your specialty.

"Create resource linked to a Specialty. D6 for Expert, D8 for Master. Lasts until end of next Action Scene. Only you can use it."

"Your resources start at d6 if you’re an Expert and at d8 if you’re a Master."

So if you had a d6 specialty then your character would create a d4 resource. In the rest of the game d4's are refered to as a negative or complicating thing. No one would want to call in a negative or complicated resource.

But hey I do not make the game I just read the book, so I could be very wrong.

vehicle combat would be great. I understand that a vehicle would be a resource, but what about the further attributes of that vehicle? Cyclops can come up with a d8 resource from vehicles... great, but does the blackbird have an optic blast too?

glad to see this thread still strong.

as to those who are saying there's nothing lacking..i have to disagree based on the fact that there are so many options left unexplored, and the ideas being put out. this isn't about knocking the game, it's about improving and/or expanding it before any "advanced rules edition:" decides to rear it's head.

as the term goes , ymmv...

see, i actually have an issue with this reply. because it says basically, why bother to buy anything further that the basic rules..just go online or to a comic and stat up datafile yourself.

if that is the intent then basically i don't need to buy any event book and just convert for all the marvel rpgs, i have. which is all three..sorry , but that's how that answer..and i'm not singling you out..i've seen this answer from many others too. just needed to get it off my chest.

No, the blackbird doesn't have an optic blast. Remember, narrative first, then rules. Narratively speaking, Cyclops can't fire his eye beams while inside the blackbird.

As for vehicle combat, I can see two ways of doing it. First off is the Iron Man way. It's a power set like any other, probably with mutually exclusive with the hero's main power set(s). However, that kinda has the side effect of attacks at the vehicle hurting the pilot. For a powered suit that's fine. For Wasp in a Quinjet…not so much.

The second way is that the vehicle itself is it's own data file, so when you fly/pilot/drive the vehicle, you play the vehicle. This has the benefit of giving the vehicle it's own stress tracks and trait. Heck, it even allows for the vehicle to have some personality via distinctions and power traits. However, do vehicles need affiliations? Or should you use those of the pilot?

Really, MHR is flexible to allow the above two options - or even another option entirely! - to work together.

At one point, the SR71 Blackbird the X-Men had (this is several Blackbirds and X-Jets ago) had a ruby quartz cockpit windows so that Cyclops could project his optic beams outside of the jet. He used this to take out a heck-ton of Brood. So, you know.

But, really, what you've got to remember is that the narrative dictates more about the use of the dice than the dice themselves do. If Cyclops has a d8 vehicle resource, does it have more stats etc? No, but it's still a vehicle. Use that d8 any time having the vehicle helps.

Cheers,

I mean I understand how to fill in the gaps; the blackbird wouldn't have cyke's powers. I would probably guess it acts as a resource on top of your specialty and comes with its own power set. It would be easy to guess too that it's superhuman durability d10, supersonic flight d10, and super senses d10 with a few SFX and Limits for color. I just prefer not having to guess. I like when rules spell things out and vehicles seem to need some attention in the RAW.
