Page 90 of the Operations Manual

"Compare with Grapple, which is used to create complications." - Page 90 of the Operations Manual under Constructs.

Fairly certain it is meant to be:
Compare with Afflict, which is used to create complications.

But everywhere else in the book it refers to Grapple as if it is the same as Afflict. Page 86 of the Operation Manual under stretching refers to Grapple as a SFX. Page 36, 66, 80, 88 of Breakout all list it as an SFX. Only Page 115 of the Operations Manual lists Afflict outside of the listing on page 90.

In my mind Afflict was most likely originally called grapple, and when the name changed only part of the Operation Manual changed with it.

Yeah, it sounds like a simple versioning error. I've done that myself on several occasions. It's an easy flub to make.

Grapple is what the Spider-Man datafile calls Afflict as used for Spidey's Web-Slinging power set.

I've been acting on the assumption that this is the origin of the issue.

Which is, incidentally, why I'm trying to get my players to write down the standard names for SFX for our upcoming first game. A couple of them have renamed things a couple of times, which I'd normally be all for, but it makes it harder for me to remember everything that everyone can do.

Yeah, I try to make a point of putting the "official" name for a SFX or Power Trait in parenthesis or brackets when I rename something on a datafile that I create.

I do this for two reasons...one, to give credit where credit is due and two, to keep me from having to retype what others could go look up.

Courteous and lazy...that's me!

Who retypes nowadays?! Ctrl+C Ctrl+V we're all using OEF my friend not some cheap scans... I'm better at lazyness than you!

I change the name and describe it with an unrivalled chutpah. People will revel in my awesomeness and never know... up until the time... when they read the book... and... see that I'm actually mediocre.

It's the SFX that are going to make it or break it though.
