Yes, there's a second scene at the very end of the credits.

Sonofa....!!!!

Thanks for the heads up!

If I don't see that movie 10 times this weekend, I'll be surprised!

Best superhero movie EVER!!!

I'm going to wait past the weekend to see if my fanvision clears, but I MIGHT be ready to declare this my favorite movie of all time...de-throning the reigning king, Star Wars: A New Hope which has been my favorite movie since I even knew what a movie was!!!

Oh my goodness! I can't stop using exclamation points!!!

Go see this movie!!!

I'll see it soon. But I doubt it'll be my favorite Comic Book movie ever.

At the moment that's X-Men: First Class. Which was almost perfect.

I'm a huge believer that everyone is entitled to their own opinions...and that every opinion is valid.

But for that...I'm not talking to you for the rest of the day.

Well...at least not until I get back from seeing the Avengers one or two more times. Maybe...MAYBE...we'll be on speaking terms when I get back!

[But for the record...X-Men First Class SHOULD have been a direct to screen version of this attachment...]

I'm really looking forward to seeing the movie this weekend, but if it tops Spider-Man 2 for my favorite super-hero film, I will be surprised... But then, I really like Spider-Man. :)

It's kind of sad; during the movie I kept saying things to myself like:

"Oh, the villain just activated his Gear limit."

or

"Ooh, Psych Master!"

or

"Shutdown one POWER SET power and gain 1 PP."

This game has ruined movies for me!

Just kidding, I actually really liked the Avengers movie.

Oh, I agree.... I wish they would have rebooted and adapted Jeff Parker's awesome X-Men: First Class. But I liked what they did with the story and setting it in the year they did. Plus I liked Beast, even if the more cat-like look they went with sorta bugged me.

I liked it quite a bit. It does not unseat Spider-Man 2 or Iron Man from the top of my superhero movies list, but I enjoyed it more and more as it went along. The action scenes are genuinely top-notch.

To avoid spoilers, I'll concentrate on the acting. Scarlett Johansson is the MVP of the cast, followed by Mark Ruffalo and, of course, Downey. I expected Downey to be good, but I didn't know what we'd get from everyone else. (I haven't seen Ruffalo's work.) Renner's a nice presence, very much IMHO as a foil to Johansson. Based on discussions with casual viewers in advance of the movie, most "civilians" have no idea who this Black Widow person is - but they're sure going to know coming out of the theater.

I'm biased toward Gwyneth Paltrow because, when done up as Pepper Potts, she looks like a grownup version of my tweenage daughter, but she really magnetizes the handful of scenes she's in. Small as it is, it's an important part because there's so much war movie to Avengers that Paltrow's turn as Potts has to do almost the entire job of reminding us why saving the world is really a good idea.

OTOH, I don't think Samuel L. Jackson ever quite gets the handle on Nick Fury. I'm not sure whether to blame him more for that, or Whedon.

Speaking of which, the movie struck me as less "Whedonesque" than I might've expected. There's a lot more acting "off the line" than I associate with a Whedon production. (Which, stereotypically, I think of as centering on actors delivering "bright" dialog well.) The script has quips, but it isn't quip-heavy. I see what Whedon was talking about in the Wired interview about taking some departures from his comfort zone with the theatrical edit of the movie. (I do look forward to the deluxe DVD expanded-edition director's cut.) How successful those departures are, we'll each decide! But like I said, I enjoyed the movie, and would expect most superhero fans, whether casual or dedicated, to enjoy it too.

The less "Whedony" the better. I'm not a huge fan of his work outside of Firefly/Serenity, especially the same rehashed tropes he uses over and over again. Thankfully it doesn't look like there's any bad romances or over the top female characters in the film. And all the characters were already established in other films, so they also got spared getting saddled with the usual repetitive Whedon personalities.

This will end well. :)
