Avengers Movie Alt - TOTALLY SPOILER-Y (And/Or MHRP-Related)

Now that Cam - and hopefully the other mods - have seen the movie, I thought it might be safe to start a second Avengers thread where people can talk in detail about the actual movie, including how parts of it would work in-game. Before we get into it, though, I want to make sure there's nobody who has to read these threads who still has the movie in their future. Meaning: I don't want to ruin everything for the mods. But talk in the other thread was starting to get a little revealing, so if the mods are out of danger, we can save everybody!

It looked to me like everyone was doing a pretty good job of keeping a lid on any spoilers.

But just the same, this thread sounds like a great idea to toss around how you would deconstruct the film and build it as a MHR event.

I couldn't believe it. THANOS?!?! Say what?! I'm surprised and intrigued. I would have thought they would go with Kang or Ultron or something like that. That will be some seriously epic stuff.

As for event stuff, you could almost sit down with a notebook and just write it out. It fits MHRPG great, as far as I can remember.

Not that Thanos isn't somewhat convoluted on his own, but I don't see Kang without a LOT of backstory...and considering he is somehow related to Reed Richards, a character that Marvel's film production company doesn't have the rights to (stupid 20th Century Fox), I think he'd be a hard character to incorporate.

As for Ultron, to truly do him/it right, we need to have a Hank Pym first.

I was surprised that they went so "cosmic" so fast though. I'm fine with a Thanos plot, but I do hope they don't try to go Infinity Gauntlet. That's just too much.

According to Joss Whedon and other executives, there was no good time for him to say it, and the movie had plenty of cool catch phrases as it is, like "We have a Hulk."

Also, Thanos and the Cosmic Cube have history, so that works, too.

I read somewhere that Joss Whedon has said that if he is the director of the second movie, he'd do something less cosmic and more personal, more in-depth with the characters. Presumably then the Thanos plot would be for the third movie. If that is true, I kind of like that plan. The characters are now introduced, the group is semi-formed, so now you can have one movie on a smaller scale, with a more character-driven plot, then lead back into a massive cosmic epic for movie 3.

Of course, take that with a grain of salt. I don't remember where I read it, nor can I guarantee it is accurate, and anything could change between now and then anyway. But I do kind of like the idea, personally...

and add to that the fact that while he may direct and/or write for the second...he may have a directive like: thou shalt use Thanos! in which case he may have to set aside his desire for small time.

but yeah, I would prefer seeing the big guys on a smaller stage before launching into inter galactic drama.

I bet that Thanos won't be the main baddy until Avengers 3.

Since they tend to build up to these things. Like Mandarin in Iron Man.
