Apps for MHR

Apps for MHR

Postby Duck Call Lass » Wed May 16, 2012 10:48 pm

I was poking around the Android store today and found a dice roller that will work with Marvel Heroic Roleplaying:

DiceTray Pro
DiceTray Free

It manages dice pools nicely and I can even use it to track the doom pool since my phone displays two trays at once.

What other good apps are there for MHR on Android or iOS?

Don't know any other apps to recommend but this Dice Tray one looks very good. Thanks for pointing it out!

iOS apps I use:
  • Dicenomicon—Great dice rolling app for ANY system. You can customize your rolls, like 1d8+2d10+d12, or just tap the appropriate dice on the bottom tray to add to the pool and shake to roll!
  • Sticky Notes—Great iPad app for just jotting down notes. Great for keeping track of stress, doom pool, assets/complications, etc.

Silly 2-links-per-post rule:

GoodReader—Far and away the end-all/be-all of PDF readers. It allows you to sync with DropBox or iTunes, and lets you mark-up your PDFs. It just rocks!

Just downloaded Dicenomicon for my iPad, to use as my Doom Pool. Thanks for the tip. Too bad it doesn't have a cool Marvel image to use as the background...

As Watcher, I ran the entire X-Men: Eloi mini-event off my iPad using the following apps:

* Goodreader for the rules
* Bento for Watcher-character datafiles
* SketchBook Pro for what I'll laughably call my Danger Room "map"
* MagicalPad for the actual event outlines - (an overall outline, and a separate outline for each Act)
* Google Earth because, Dude! gotta have some satellite maps of Northern Canada in any self-respecting SR-71 Blackbird
* iPhoto to hold screen captures from Google Earth and saved images from the internet

Because if you really care about your players, at some point you will help them really see what those Wendigos look like . . .

How about a comic book reader app?

Dicenomicon seems to be only for the iPad, and (alas for poor me) I have only an iPhone. Does Dicenomicon work on the iPhone and I misread, or is there a good roller for the smaller device?

I used Dicenomicon on my iPod touch 2nd gen, which means it should work on the iPhone.

Cheers,

I use the DC/Comixology and Official Marvel Comics apps on my Galaxy Ace, and I know that equivalent versions exist for iPhones/iPads. Both allow purchases direct through the App or through the associated website (in the case of the Marvel one, it's the official Marvel website), and both do 99c an issue sales every Monday.

I've been using the Marvel one extensively to help with prep for a run-through of Breakout in a couple of weeks, particularly as I'm paying in £ rather than $, so it works out quite cheap and convenient for me to pick up a few issues or a collection.
