There's a lot of good advice on these boards, and for the newbies like myself who are having trouble, I thought it might be useful to have a single place to go with links to the places where things are actually discussed.
If I'm duplicating one that actually exists (and that I haven't found), add the link to the bottom of the thread, say so, and close this thread.
This is for newbies; it's not meant to duplicate the eagerly-awaited FAQ, though there will be some overlap. Assuming the thread stays open, add your links to it. (This is in lieu of stickies, I guess.) Because of the two-link limit, it's got to be a thread.
