I dearly love this thread! It's a brilliant idea and a great tool to help people truly grasp how the game system works.

I was seriously considering a thread like this to help myself understand the game better. I've tested a couple of the builds with friends and even begun to test my own DC builds. Good stuff here; it's inspired me to get deeper into the game. I need to use the "grand standing" effect more myself.

I just wanted to let folks know that I've started updating and rewriting my pretend-play reports. ASM #2 (Spidey vs the Vulture) has already been revised, and I will be slowly working on updating the rest.

When I first wrote these, I was learning the rules as I was going, so there are a lot of mistakes in there, and I've always wanted to go back and fix those. I was also "playtesting" the datafiles as I was writing, which often led to the villains getting re-written multiple times during the course of an issue. Such that the final datafiles didn't necessarily match what was in the play report.

So, armed with actual play experience and much more knowledge of how the rules work, I've updated the datafiles and re-written everything to be consistent and by-the-book (to the extent that one can play that way). I'm also incorporating milestones and XP into the narrative, so that people can see how those work as well.

I want to thank everyone who read these, and I hope they can serve as a useful learning tool to new MHR gamers going into the future. As I finish updating other issues, I will post a notice here.

Also, I'm trying to make things more readable, and would love any suggestions or feedback on that front.

Are there are good (free) text editors that work with BB code? Right now I'm composing posts on another msg board that has the shortcuts (CTRL-B to make something bold, for example) and saving things in Word, but it's all a little unwieldy.

ASM #3 (Spidey vs Doctor Octopus) has now been updated for rules accuracy, consistency, and readability!

Wow - almost 35,000 words of great use. Your examples really covered anything I was slightly unsure about, so... thanks! great job!

Thinking about it, this is the sort of content I for one would really like to see for the game, further down the line. Dedicated books based around one hero, filled with details/hooks/stats for enemies, allies and whatnot associated with them, along with a dozen or so story arcs derived from exemplar issues.
