BSG RPG

BSG RPG

Battlestar Galactica RPG...the one oddball in my MWP collection.

BSG has the distinction of being the only MWP game that I am actually disappointed that it fell under the Cortex system.

Don't get me wrong...if my draw to BSG was the amazing character interaction and conspiracy/paranoia/survival stories that the TV show gave us, Cortex would be perfect for the game.

However, BSG is a license that pulls me in because of the Vipers and fighter combat. It is just the aspect of the property that is of the most interest to me and has been since the original BSG came out in the late 70's. I love some Viper on Raider action!

For that, I'd have loved to see a tactical, more crunch-driven rules set for space combat. Yes...maybe even a gridded system like that 4th Edition step-child.

Anyone playing BSG still?

What do most of your games center around?

Have you been able to run engaging space combat in your sessions? Maybe I've been too quick in my initial judgement on this topic. I'd love to hear that I am if anyone has thoughts on the matter.

I have played it a few times and it was great fun, but since MWP seemed to drop the ball and let it go (too my dismay, as it was their best License IMO), they never did a damn thing with it! Why get a hot license and do nothing with it? They could have done stuff on RAZOR, Caprica Series and now the new prequel stuff with Adama as a Pilot during the 1st Cylon War thats coming out. Now I am just converting everything over into Now Playing by Carnivore Games a FUDGE TV show game system, excellent game.
Games I Currently GM: Marvel SH RPG, MnM 3e, DC Adventures, AFMBE, and Stormbringer 5th.

When considering whether a game publisher dropped the ball on a hot license it's also worth considering whether there were other things going on apart from total ignorance. :) We knew BSG was a hot license, but licensed properties can be very complicated and involve a lot of things behind the scenes.

Very well (and politically) put Cam. You are an excellent 'face' for MWP as I have yet to see you get rattled by a post no matter how inflammatory the language seems.

I can appreciate that. Kudos!
