I've been noodling around with creating characters from verious TV Shows using Leverage since it came out. Having recently finished watching all 10 seasons, I thought I'd post my ideas for those characters.

First up: Roles

While the Leverage Roles work unchaged, I don't feel the Names give the right tone. These are what I'll be calling them in the Character Posts.

Academic <--> Hacker
Covert Expert <--> Thief
Diplomat <--> Grifter
Soldier <--> Hitter
Tactician <--> Mastermind

Flashbacks
Flashbacks work well to represent what happens in those scenes on Leverage. Not so much for other shows, not just SG1. So, I've renamed them Reveals and they follow the sames rules as Flashback do ... with one exception. The die type of the Asset created is figured the same way as the Asset die is created in MHR. Use the Effect Die. Notice Actions work the same way.

Specialties and Talents
Because some of the Characters I plan on posting, not just from SG1, have 100 to 200+ xp, even at just 1 per episode, they are going to get up to a silly number of Specialties and Talents. As a result, I've removed Role from Talents and Specialties can stack.

Role: Any
Activation: You are flying an air craft in a combat situation.
Effect: Add a d8 to your roll.

Couple Stitches Concussion Nausea Dizziness, The Usual
You have the ability to shake injuries faster than most … if you get medical attention.
Role: Soldier
Activation: If someone tried to Remove a COMPLICATION on you that represents your injury and they fail the roll. You must spend a Plot Point to activate this Talent.
Effect: Step Back the COMPLICATION representing your injury by one die type. Normally, a failed roll would Step Up the COMPLICATION by one die type.

Daniel!
While you may be smart, you don‘t have the patients to listen to an extended explanation.
Role: Tactician
Activation: Someone on your crew is explaining or relaying technical or scientific information to you while making a Reveal.
Effect: If you interrupt them so they get to the point without all that Techno-Babble, Add your INTELLIGENCE to their roll.

Give Them A Minute
You confidence in others boosts their moral so they work faster.
Role: Tactician
Activation: A team member of yours is performing a roll to overcome a technical based step in a Timed Action. Spend a Plot Point to activate this Talent.
Effect: They gain a Beat.

It’s A Trap
You notice traps or ambushes better than most.
Role: Tactician
Activation: You Choose to let the GM create a D8 TRAP/AMBUSH BASED COMPLICATION when you and your team is ambushed or walk into a trap.
Effect: You earn a Plot Point.

Since When Has Plan ‘A’ Ever Worked?
What is the saying? “No battle plan survives contact with the enemy.”
Role: Tactician
Activation: You are making a roll that includes an PLAN-BASED ASSET. One of your dice roll a ‘1’.
Effect: You can convert the 1 in your roll into a 2, but you must Step Back the PLAN-BASED ASSET by one die type.

Well, That Sounds Like ‘A’ Plan
You only have a few moments to plan what you and your team is going to do next.
Role: Tactician
Activation: You or someone on your team just made a Reveal outlining a Plan and there isn’t any time to refine it.
Effect: If you wish, you or they, can add an extra d10 to the roll— but if you or they do, you or they must also add a d4.

Witty Banter
You sometimes say things that inspire others to solve a problem they are working on … even if you have no idea what it is.
Role: Tactician
Activation: You are interacting with another character that is working on a problem. You must spend a Plot Point to activate this talent.
Effect: The team member you are talking can add an extra d8 on their roll. If the two of you banter back and forth, it is a d10. In either case, they get to keep a 3rd die.

What Did You Do?
You don’t let problems other people create bother you.
Role: Tactician
Activation: Someone else on your team just created a COMPLICATION.
Effect: You earn a Plot Point.

You Never Cease To Amaze Me With All Your Talents
Your friends are skilled at a lot of unusual skills.
Role: Tactician
Activation: Spend a Plot Point.
Effect: Remind a team member about the unusual skill they told out once about that they had. This is a D8 PERSISTENT ASSET. If they explain how, why, or where they picked it up, it is a D10 PERSISTENT ASSET.

Big Damn Hero
You have a knack for showing up just in the nick of time to pull your friends bacon out of the fire.
Role: Soldier
Activation: An Ally of yours is in a Combat Based Contested Action and has just Given Ground. You must spend a Plot Point to activate this Talent.
Effect: You can join the scene. Add a d8 to your first roll, if you arrive weapons blazing. Add a d6 to each following roll if you continue to attack. You can not use this Talent if you are too busy elsewhere or have no way to reasonably get there in a short amount of time.

Briefings
You’ve conducted extensive research into potential problems you may encounter.
Role: Tactician
Activation: You are making a Reveal to outline some information your character discovered. You must spend a Plot Point to activate this Talent.
Effect: A d12 may be added to any roll to remove a COMPLICATION. This Talent can only be used once per Mission. If the GM gives you an Opportunity later, you can refresh this Talent. However, the die gets stepped back by one die type for each successive use. Second use: d10, 3rd: d8, etc.

Buying Time
You are talented at distracting others so members of your team can do things uninterrupted.
Role: Any
Activation: You are buying time during someone’s Timed Action. Spend a Plot Point of added effect.
Effect: You may add a d8 to your roll. If you fail the roll, you may spend a Plot Point to buy your teammate a Beat.

Curiosity Killed The Cat
You have an insatiable curiosity that often get you into trouble.
Role: Academic
Activation: You choose to spend most of the scene you are currently in and all of the next working on your own on a problem that needs to be solved.
Effect: You can add a d10 to your roll. If you do so, you must also add a d4. You can also keep a 3rd die.

Diplomat
You know the in’s and out’s of politics.
Role: Diplomat
Activation: You are attempting an Impression Action against another political figure or leader of a group of people. You must spend a Plot Point to activate this Talent. Spend a Plot Point for added effect.
Effect: Add a d8 to your roll and keep a 3rd die. Spending a Plot Point will Step Up the die type of the ASSET created. To a maximum of d12.

Here’s The Information You Wanted
You are talented at locating information for the rest of the team. Either by searching computer data bases, interviewing witnesses, examining evidence, and so on.
Role: Academic
Activation: You’ve spent time between scenes attempting to find out some information. You must spend a Plot Point to activate this talent.
Effect: You give another member of your team an PERSISTENT INFORMATION BASED ASSET. It is a d8 not the normal d6. If you describe the way you got the information, or describe what the information is, it is a d10 ASSET.

I Speak 23 Different Languages, Pick One
You are a talented Linguist.
Role: Academic
Activation: You are in a situation where you may have learned the language of someone you need to communicate with. You must spend a Plot Point to activate this Talent.
Effect: You know the language fluently, or can pick it up quickly enough.

Look At The Size Of That Distraction!
Leverage Hacker, Hitter & Thieves

Master-Facting
You gather information as easy as others breathe.
Role: Academic
Activation: You are using a Reveal to create information about a person, place, or thing. You must spend a Plot Point to activate this Talent.
Effect: You automatically succeed. You create a D12 PERSISTENT ASSET. You may only use this Talent once per job.

Opportunist
Leverage Core Book

Rapid Record Search
You are talented at locating information in computer or paper records.
Role: Academic
Activation: Use your ALERTNESS die in a roll involving looking for a piece of useful information in a large amount of not so useful information.
Effect: You complete your task in a fraction of the usual time: hours rather than days, or minutes rather than hours.

Researcher
Your mom was a librarian and you dad was a computer database. You always know where to look for things.
Role: Academic
Activation: You make a roll including ACADEMIC that involves finding information in physical or digital files.
Effect: You may add a d8 to the roll and keep a 3rd die. You don’t gain any Plot Points for any COMPLICATIONS that arise from this Action.

Social Center
Leverage Core Book

Talk It Out
You figure out problem better when you are bouncing ideas off someone else.
Role: Academic
Activation: There is an active CLUE BASED ASSET. You are in voice contact with another Crewmember. You can only use this once per ASSET.
Effect: Step Up the ASSET by one die type. Max of d12.

That’s Not Good
Sometimes bad things are worse than they originally looked.
Role: Any
Activation:
The GM just Stepped Up a COMPLICATION.
Effect: Step Up the COMPLICATION by one more die type and everyone on the team Gains a Plot Point.

I loved the Stargate movie, but I only watched a few episodes of SG-1 (even though they put MacGyver in command).

Still, I love seeing orginal work and the amazing places that players take their games.

Effect: A d12 may be added to any roll to remove a COMPLICATION. This Talent can only be used once per Mission. If the GM gives you an Opportunity later, you can refresh this Talent. However, the die gets stepped back by one die type for each successive use. Second use: d10, 3rd: d8, etc.

Commanding Speech
You can inspirer people to action do to your intensity.
Role: Diplomat
Activation: You are trying to rally a group. You must spend a Plot Point to activate this Talent.
Effect: They may Choose to Add a d10 to any of their rolls for the next scene, however, if they do, they must also add a d4.

Delegation
You are well versed in instructing people under your command to do things for you.
Role: Tactician
Activation: You have assigned tasks to members of your crew. You must spend a Plot Point to use this Talent.
Effect: They may include your TACTICIAN die even if out of direct contact with you for the rest of the scene. If they Choose to go against your instructions, they Gain a Plot Point instead.

Diplomat
You know the in’s and out’s of politics.
Role: Diplomat
Activation: You are attempting an Impression Action against another political figure or leader of a group of people. You must spend a Plot Point to activate this Talent. Spend a Plot Pont for added effect.
Effect: Add a d8 to your roll and keep a 3rd die. Spending a Plot Point will Step Up the die type of the ASSET created. To a maximum of d12.

Expert Crew Member
You have access to a wide array of talented experts.
Role: Tactician
Activation: You must spend a Plot Point to activate this Talent. Spend a plot point for added effect.
Effect: Gain a D8 EXTRA for the rest of the episode. If you explain who they are and make them recurring, they are a D10 EXTRA. Each extra Plot Point spent adds an extra D6 TRAIT to the EXTRA, making them a MINOR NPC.

Give Them A Minute
You confidence in others boosts their moral so they work faster.
Role: Tactician
Activation: A team member of yours is performing a roll to overcome a technical based step in a Timed Action. Spend a Plot Point to activate this Talent.
Effect: They gain a Beat.

I Know A Guy
You have a collection of contacts that can help you out with things.
Role: Any
Activation: You must spend a Plot Point to activate this Talent.
Effect: You can create a D10/D4 MINOR NPC. Both TRAITS must be the same, and the MINOR NPC only lasts for the scene they are created in.

I Love It When A Plan Comes Together
When things are going your way, you let it drive your forward.
Role: Tactician
Activation: You or a crew member have just removed a COMPLICATION.
Effect: You earn a Plot Point.

Imposing
You can instill fear in other people, either do to your size or reputation … Maybe both.
Role: Any
Activation: You are in an Impression Action with someone and you are trying to get them to fear you.
Effect: You may add a d10 to your roll. However, if you do, you also must add a d4.

Inspirational Speech
You can inspire people to action.
Role: Diplomat
Activation: You are trying to rally a group of EXTRAS to help you help them. You must spend a Plot Point to activate this Talent.
Effect: Step Up the die representing the EXTRAS by one die type. To a maximum of d12.

It’s Commander
Your commanding voice and imposing demeanor only serve to augment your military rank.
Role: Soldier
Activation: You are in an Impression Action with someone and you are trying to impose your authority over them or that your rank is of importance.
Effect: Step Up the die type of the ASSET Created. To a maximum of d12.

Well, I've given this some more thought, and decided that I would add Roles to all the Talents that I created. I have also decided to change how I was doing the NPCs, and the Main Character Posts. I just read through the Talents in Grifters & Masterminds and Hackers, Hitters & Thieves, and got some ideas for some of the Talents I created that work better with the designs of the Talents in those books.

So they will change as I get around to changing them.

I’m also going to go and grab some random episodes and stat out what happens during them. Locations and Strongholds [What I call the Expanded Location rules from HHT], Timed Actions, Assets and Complications, Reveals, and so on.

At least, that is the plan.
