Yes. It was revealed to Flash (new 52) in issue #5 that when he "approaches" the speed of light he is causing "time rifts that pull things into and out of his timeline and spits them out randomly across history." So now he is monitoring his own output so as to prevent such things from happening.

As errata, any 2s that are rolled on a pool affected by Growing Dread (or Limits like it) are only prevented from being included in your total or used as effect dice if they are activated by the Watcher. Any die coming up 1 remains unusable whether or not it's activated.

So my first thought was, this is great! My second thought is, will it make all that much difference? A Watcher only has to pay one PP per new DOOM DIE, right? So if my player rolls 7-3-4-3-2-2-1, it costs me a single PP to turn both 2s and the 1 into a D10 DD, right? So this erratum benefits the player to the extent I don't activate her opportunities - to the extent she's not earning PPs, that is.

yeah that's been a factor in the books for a while; the danger of the speed force in the DCU. Barry is kind of at the heart of it. If there was a way to curtail it a bit, say maybe if Barry uses his speed at a full d12 or something.

What is Johns on? Issue 8 or 9? I defy anyone to read that run and not bow down to Aquaman. He and Ivan Reis hit a home run every month.

Let's play... THE FLASH! (part 1)

Postby BaronVonStevie » Sat May 12, 2012 3:19 pm

Doom Pool: 1d6
Flash: 1pp, 1XP
Hydro Man:

Hydro Man has just attacked a cargo ship where the assets of a deposed Arab government leader is trying to smuggle his fortune. Hydro Man manages to overpower the crew, but not before they send out a mayday. Barry Allen just happens to be vacationing nearby, when he sees the drama unfold on the news. “Hydro Man,” he says to himself, “not again…” (+1XP The Rogues). Flash lets his suit fly from his ring and races to the rescue as the Flash (2d6 doom pool opposed vs solo d10, fastest man alive d8, d12 speed; 6/d4 doom pool, 13/d8 flash). Flash arrives at the scene after running across the ocean and around the occasional school of whales or dolphins. Man where is Aquaman when you need him? Flash gets to go first and goes to inflict some emotional stress (Think Fast SFX: solo d10, d4 brainy, d12 speed, d10 reflexes, d8 crime; +1PP, 13/d12) and Hydro Man tries to keep up (d6 solo, d8 dumb, d8 strength, d8 crime; doom pool adds d6, 16/d8). A quick exchange of words as Flash tries to get inside Hydro Man’s head…

Flash: “You’re going back to the pen, Morrie! No two ways about it. I’m bringing you in!”
Hydro Man: “We’re in international waters, speedster. You don’t got jurisdiction out here. Me though? You’re on MY turf. I got all the jurisdiction in the world!”

Why was the Flash rolling against the doom pool?

Don't forget to add a scene distinction or two, for Hydro Man's benefit.

Why was the Flash rolling against the doom pool?

I figured it was for color. Running out to find this boat and having to run over open water was a scenario that could have produced some complication or, possibly, affected the power points or doom pool in play. I wanted to add to the set up.

Don't forget to add a scene distinction or two, for Hydro Man's benefit.

was planning on it for the beginning of part 2. Something along the lines of "Water Everywhere!" or "Killer Waves" 8-)
