Who's Who in the DC Universe...

Postby Doc Hydrogen » Fri Mar 30, 2012 2:38 am

As a mirror to the Unofficial Marvel characters thread, here's a DC version.

Let's start with a fan favorite... Batman.

Note: This build isn't mine. It's late and I wanted to start this thread before morning. Princess Stacey over on RPG.net did this write up. I'll post some of my own builds in the morning.

A LIFE OF TRAINING

SFX: Second Wind. Before making an action with A LIFE OF TRAINING power, you may move your physical stress to the doom pool and step up that power by +1.

SFX: Immunity. Spend 1 PP to ignore emotional stress or trauma.

Limit: Exhausted. Shut down any A LIFE OF TRAINING power and gain 1 PP. Recover power by activating an opportunity or during a transition scene.

My apologies for occasional spelling... shenanigans. I typically post from mobile devices.

I've done a fair few. Rather than retype them out, I'll link to the relevant posts on rpg.net

The Justice League

A few posts down from the Justice League write-ups are ones for Batgirl II (Cassandra Cain) and Batgirl III (Stephanie Brown). I'd link to that as well, but the forum software limits you to 2 URLs per post.

Because of the Photographic Reflexes question popping up, and some comments about the interaction between powers, SFX, and specialties, I thought I'd throw out a character that touched on all of those...

Prometheus

Solo d10, Buddy d6, Team d8

Single-Minded Obsession
Advanced Planner
Supreme Arrogance

Power Set
Intensive Training
Reflexes d8
Stamina d8
Limit: Exhausted.

Gadgets Galore
Teleport d10 (Ghost Zone)
Durability d8
Shapeshifting d8 (Disguise as humans only)
Weapon d8 (Nightstick, Gauntlet Guns, Toxic Darts)
Mimic d10 (Neural Download of skills and specialties)
SFX: Area Attack
SFX: Burst
SFX: Multipower
Limit: Mimic cannot create Assets during an Action scene
Limit: Gear

Specialties
Acrobatic d8
Combat d8
Covert d8
Crime d8
Tech d8

Prometheus is a formidable opponent due to his ability to Mimic skills. He will typically spend a Transition scene before an encounter with the heroes studying their fighting styles, strengths, and weaknesses. Prometheus must prepare his neural downloads beforehand, he cannot create Assets with this power during an Action scene. During an Action scene he should create Complications based on his 'neural chaff', nuero-toxic darts, and disorienting strobe.

The Question. This build of the character works for the regular DCU version, but the distinctions and Milestones are geared toward the JLU version voiced by the amazing Jeffrey Combs.

For that question build, I'd almost suggest swapping the buddy and team affiliations. He seems to do better with only one other person, or on his own. For example, just considering the comics, he rarely teams up with anyone, but when he does he usually only works with one person at a time, like when he teamed up with Green Arrow, or when he works with Aristotle Rodor, or that formerly corrupt cop, I can't rememeber the name of at the moment. Likewise, in the DCAU, he teams up with, and does remarkably better, when he's alone or only with the Huntress, or Green Arrow.
