I want World War Hulk because I want Damage Control.

I have to say, a lot of what you people consider "old-time" strikes me as shockingly recent.

:D

I've been reading comics a long, long time, and have a few miles on me as well. On the other hand, something that's nearly thirty years old (yeah, that long ago) can be considered "old-time". It's not All-Star Comics #3 old, sure, but it's older than a lot of gamers out there right now, I'm willing to bet. ;)

Take care

I would hope the powers that be would consider the Infinity Gauntlet stories and the Phoenix Saga; it would be SO worth the extra trouble with the artwork. Also I think they'd be shooting themselves in the foot to not include Avengers v X-Men.

I'm not current at all with Marvel so I'm using the new event books as a way to catch up on recent stories.

I'm actually less interested in events and more in certain periods of individual titles. Personally I'd like to have the first three years of Avengers Vol. 3 as a sourcebook.

I would love to see a Power Pack Event or a collection of Mini Events. I could get by with DLC though.

But I just really love these guys. I'll be sorely disappointed if they don't get any love.

I like the idea of a book of mini-events.

It would be a great way to add obscure characters or teams that don't usually make it into the big events. You could probably include five or so in a single collection, giving a decent number of heroes/villains to play with.

Each of these mini events could be capped with a "Where to go from here" section listing possible jumping off points and maybe even connecting them to larger events.

Just a thought.

My top choices would be:

1) Fear Itself- Touched every corner of the Marvel Universe, so it would allow for being a snap-shot of the modern Marvel cast of characters. Everyone from Avengers to X-Men to Uncanny X-Force to Red Hulk to 'Kid' Loki to the Thunderbolts had some part in the story.

2)Dark Reign/Siege- Rules for playing villains as heroes (Dark Avengers/Dark X-Men) and how to work off the concept of the Doom Pool with villainous characters would be great to include

3)The Infinity Trilogy (especially Gauntlet)

If you want to go genuinely old-school, genuine event, you've gotta tackle the 1972 Rutland Halloween Parade. Licensing might take even a little longer than usual, mind you . . .

ETA: This blog entry is a little more informative about the plot.

But leaving the Halloween Parade aside, your first genuine like we refer to them now Marvel "event" was probably the Kree-Skrull War. Not a lot of crossover among books in the main story, but it did bring in Avengers, FF, Inhumans and Nick Fury, and had a "lasting" (as these things go) impact on the Captain Marvel series.

After that, Avengers-Defenders War, which someone mentioned. That one actually got promoted like an event.
