Another SFX like that is the Beast's "Oh My Stars and Garters." But what if the Beast is being attacked by the Doom Pool and wants to use his SFX in his reaction? Frex, when fighting The Void. How does it work then? Borrow the die before the Watcher rolls?

The reaction isn't rolled at the same time as your action. This means that the doom pool doesn't change for the reaction, but (in case it matters) it is reduced by a die WHILE the action is taking place.
