Mystic Datafiles?

Mystic Datafiles?

Postby DarkLoreDave » Thu May 31, 2012 5:51 pm

In two weeks I'm running a mystic themed game and I see a lack of those types of datafiles. (Other than Dr. Strange on a fan site) I'd love to have some examples of threats to send against the players; any suggestions?

Can you be more specific? Are you looking for Mystic Heroes, villains or mobs? Any particular characters (Dr Druid, Clea, Dread Dormammu, Mordo, Nameless Ones etc....)?

To be honest I did not have a specific character I needed; I just wanted to see other takes on building mystic villians so that I could get some perspective about how to reflect mystic-themed powers in the system. I'd say that the level of power I need ranges from mobs of goons to the marquee villian of the piece. A huge "force of nature" like Dormannu is a little less useful because I do not see my charaqcters facing that just yet.

If it helps get ideas; the party consists of Harry Dresden (detective wizard), a mystic martial artist, a Lovecraftian-themed teleporter/blaster & druid-adventurer (he's from books I have not read yet; can't recall the name).

Thanks

I believe he is a mystic hero . . . even though I can see the argument as to why not -- but I just posted a full Data File (pre-Civil War) for Blade on my site http://wp.me/p2jKw4-57

Don't forget that narrative is your friend.

You can take any datafile in the book, hero, villian creature, whatever and declare it mystical with a little flavor tweaking.

Change a specialty to Mystic Expert/Master or just add it to the datafile.

Describe those flame powers as smelling of brimstone and sulfur and the sound it makes as it melts something is less of a "hiss" and more of a "pain-filled wail."

Any power use can be described by the "caster" chanting and making motions with his/her/its hands.

Take the velociraptor pack out of the Basic Game and label it "Hellhound Pack."

Turn the T-Rex into Cerberes.

Declare that that armor wearing datafile is really a mystical suit of armor fueled by the blood and souls of its victims.

You really don't have to do much to get a mystical datafile other than a little flavor tweaking.

Just a thought.

Hope it helps and good luck with your game.
