On another thread discussing Secret Invasion, I posted a suggested Milestone for characters who may or may not be Skrull imposters:

Who Do You Trust?
  • Gain 1 XP when somebody doubts that you are who you claim to be
  • Gain 3 XP when you provide a compelling reason to either accuse someone else of being a Skrull or of proving that you are who you claim to be.
  • Gain 10 XP when you are conclusively revealed to be either yourself or a Skrull infiltrator.

A character with this milestone isn't guaranteed to be a Skrull, and will find it just as rewarding to be someone who people believe is a Skrull but actually isn't (such as Tony Stark during the actual Secret Invasion run - many of the New Avengers assumed that Tony was actually a Skrull, as it helped them justify what he had done during and after Civil War)

I have to throw in a vote for the Fall of the Mutants storyline that ran through the X-Books in the late 80's. It covered a huge array of, admittedly X-ocentric, characters at the time and would work nicely as three different "mini-events" all within the same book. The only real crossovers with books outside the X-titles at the time were Hulk, Captain America, Power Pack, Hulk and I think Daredevil. Not really enough for a series of spin-off sourcebooks but maybe one that covers all of them. Of the crossovers from that era, I think Inferno due to it's crossover with most of the Marvel U and due to it taking place in New York has better potential for spin-off supplements and the art is likely an issue in either case, but I'd love to see one or both of these.

I (jokingly) suggested to my group that an unlockable in my version of Secret Invasion (I am known for loving the Skrulls) would be "Spend 1,000xp to not have been a secret Skrull infiltrator all along."

While the cost is obviously a bit high, I actually think that would be a good Unlockable. Along with "Spend 5xp to have been a secret Skrull infiltrator all along."

You'd also want to have rule for flashback scenes in a Secret Invasion event book. There were a lot of flashbacks to when the heroes were replaced and what they had done since.

I do think it should come to pass, Secret Invasion is an Event that could add some great new rules (especially for a character to be revealed as a Skrull sleeper agent, like in the comics they believed themself to be a super until their trigger kicks in).

Although Dark Reign is also a pivotal time, if it can be quantified into an Event, if that came out, we could possibly get some good supplements (Seige for one).

I see the Cabal as being 'hero' datafiles in the main Event book anyway, well maybe not Norman Osborn, who is the main villian of the piece, but the others surely. Possibly they could get away with Bullseye being a hero datafile too, what with his involvement with the Skrull-Jarvis debacle.

Other datafiles that would be cool to see in Dark Reign would be Loki/Scarlet Witch with the whole Cthon in Quicksilver plot. Also we know with 50 States we'll have Thunderbolt games, so their new line-up along with the Dark Avengers and Counter Force would be great.

The memorable stuff is only 2 issues. Sure they did future visits and tie-ins, but all it did was water down what was an interesting concept.

When thinking about Secret Invasion as an Event, remember that MHRP's method is "open-book exams." I mean, in the authorized version of the game, the Watcher makes every villain datafile available to the players during an action scene so they know what their options are for activating the villain's limits etc. An official Event-book of would probably not be written for Watchers to pull their tired old GM tricks - "I decide you're a Skrull! Ooh, isn't this fun?!" "Hahahaha I decide your hero's boyfriend was a Skrull this whole time! Cause I can!" I suspect it would be set up so that everyone knows who the important Skrulls are among the player-heroes & their intimates, or no one does - including the Watcher - until the moment the reveal happens.

This would be actually very fun, to have a game mechanics that both Watcher and players could explore to "turn" someone into a skrull.

But I don't see why "open-book exams" would be such a big problem. The plot complications in Secret Invasion just start to appear after the skrulls revelations. Maybe if you have some "Skrull Template" (or more than one) with SFX, limits that can be ativated after the revelation, only then they are available to be exploited by everyone.

The problem I have is that I have been away from comics for a loooong time, so I have no idea what happened during events over the last 20 yrs (except for the heroes reborn era) and before then I only really invested in the Marvel UK imprint, keeping tracks on my favorite cyborg killing machine, Death's Head.

So with that caveat in mind I would love to see a Mys-Tech based event/source book with all of the UK characters, Motormouth, Dark Angel, Warheads and of course Death's Head etc. This also brought in lots of mainstream heroes trying to find out what the mysterious Mys-Tech board are up to and culminating with the battle royal of the Mys-Tech wars, where heroes die and alliances shift but the story of Mys-Tech and the UK heroes never really gets finished. Although it does tie in to the MI 13 series , so there are potentials for ongoing acts.

If this isn't likely to happen (and its probably not) this might prompt me to finaly set-up my own rpg page :)
