Preferred Retailer ProgramThe goal at Margaret Weis Productions is to drive business and sales to and through brick and mortar locations. Our "Preferred Retailer" program is just one way we hope to get this accomplished. And now we've made it even easier!

You may have already heard about our policy of offering anyone that purchases product from our online store a free (yep, Free!) PDF of their purchase. Please note that's for existing product and also for pre-orders. To inspire people to go through their local game shop, we're going to make it even easier for retailers to offer the very same opportunity to their customers. We had been sending participating stores a pre-printed card to include with any Margaret Weis Productions sale. The card provided the following instructions:

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Thanks for your support of Margaret Weis Productions
and your friendly local game store! As a sign of our
appreciation, we’d like to send you a free PDF of today’s
purchase.

1. Go to www.margaretweis.com
2. Select “Contact Us” from the main menu.
3. Jot us a short note telling us what you purchased
and reference the store code found on this card.

That’s it! Your free PDF will land in your inbox within 24
hours of receipt of your email (sometimes even faster)!

Your Games Store Code: _______

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Pretty easy for stores and customers! Plus, stores that agree to participate in this program, will be added to our Store Locator! Now you don't even need a card! Just let your customers know to contact us through our site, tell us what they purchased and from where, and we will send them off the PDF. Less fuss - no muss!

Two: We want to provide retailers with special incentives that will inspire people to buy from their local game store. We welcome your input on what would work best for customers. Maybe it's a monthly Margaret Weis Productions Game Night where people come to a store, play and receive a special promo item based on the game or games being run. We can offer coupons; buy a Margaret Weis Productions Game and receive a free PDF of not only that game, but another game of the cutomer's choice.

You tell us. I think you'll find we're pretty darn responsive. Let us know what you think and better yet, if you're a retailer and want to get started contact Christi!

0 Great deal for our local stores!
I really like when a game company works with our local game stores to help keep them in business.

This should be a great way to cross-promote the stores, the games and MWP. I also like that MWP is not competing against the game stores directly.

If not for our local game stores, we wouldn't likely see a lot of the new products that when they come out or get the chance to congregate with new players and game masters and try the games out.

This is a great program and I am incredibly thankful for your commitment to the gaming community.

0 Dice?
Perhaps another incentive to those who buy the book from their local store is to include a free set of dice with the purchase of a core rule book? (and/or maybe other books that are newly released/special of the month?) If you guys ever make setting themed diced it would work perfectly for this.

This would help those who are new to the hobby join in without having to buy dice in addition to the book/s, and more likely to purchase one of your books over a competitors. (even us veteran gamers could always use more dice)

Great idea ... we'll definitely talk about this suggestion. Keep the suggestions coming!

Hey,

Is the preferred retailer thing available in Canada?

I noticed there didn't seem to be any Canadian stores in the store locator, but I wasn't sure if that was because of lack of participation or a legal restriction.

Hi Mike --

It is absolutely available in Canada -- worldwide actually. Any and all are welcome. If you have a store or your store would like to participate, shoot me a note through the Contact us page.

0 RE: Preferred Retailer Program Launched!
More than a few companies are starting to give out a pdf version of the game on pre-order of the book. Leisure Games in London have been really effective on this as a real store!

I would love to see this and think it works brilliantly as a way of getting people interested early on. Right now I am so keen to get my hands on Smallville and Leverage but buying them both is a bit steep!

ps the quickstart rules being given away as a loss leader is surely a good way to get interest going as well?

0 Brick and Mortar and PDF
My retailer is listed now on your site, but they haven’t received the cards or any information. Can I still somehow order Smallville and still get the PDF? How long should it take before they receive the information and cards for this program?

Thanks

Hi, I'm not sure if I did this right the first time since I haven't heard back. I see the post on the board, but it seems to be the last one. Could you let me know when it would be okay to order and how I can get my pdf?

Thanks,
Jeff

Hi, does this program include past purchases? Earlier this year, I purchased all three of your current Supernatural RPG products, but this was before I knew about your program. I don't remember the exact dates, but they were between March and June.

Thanks,

Thor

Hi again,

I'm impressed with the quick response. Now I have just one more question: Do I have to contact The Source to find out the Games Store Code?

I want to say thank you VERY much for the pdfs. It was wonderful that you allowed me to receive these files. Because of this, I've been giving nothing but praise of your company to my gaming group. They've been impressed as well, and you may have gotten some sales.

Sorry, your entry fields are off center, so my email address was incorrect, because of this glitch. In addition, the place where I purchased the Supernatural products was listed on your store locator.

Thanks again,

Thor
